known since the eighteenth century as the quickest technique of furniture lacquering (the decoration was initially printed on a sheet of wood, glued on the furniture and then covered with a transparent varnish). Today, decoupage is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf and so on. Support materials may be made of wood, tissue, metal, glass or gypsum.
